Idaho Falls High School (IFHS), commonly referred to as I.F.,[9] is a high school located in central Idaho Falls, Idaho. The school's current building opened in 1952, though the school itself has been in operation for well over a century.[1][2] IFHS is one of two high schools in Idaho School District 91, along with Skyline High School. Its sports teams are called the Tigers, and the mascot is known as Teeger.[6]

Idaho Falls High School is the oldest high school in the city of Idaho Falls, originating around the turn of the 20th century. The first school was a three story structure that was located on the corner of North Water and Walnut Street behind what would later became O. E. Bell Junior High. Following the construction of a larger building that occupied the entire block between 6th and 7th Streets and S. Boulevard and South Lee Avenue (where the present-day Wesley W. Deist Aquatic Center is now located), the original school building became the School District 91 Administration building and was also used for overflow classrooms as part of O.E. Bell Jr. High. It was later torn down and is now part of the parking lot behind the present O.E. Bell office building.
When the current building on South Holmes opened in 1952, the old school building on 7th Street became Central Junior High School. That structure burned down on April 24, 1971. The City of Idaho Falls also constructed the Civic Auditorium, adjacent to the school in 1952 [1]. The Auditorium remains a major center for performing arts in the area. The school's newspaper is the Tiger Times.[7] Paul Haack wrote the school song "Dear Old I.F. High" in 1927[10]
James Francis, teacher of Advanced Placement European History and Advanced Placement United States History, was the recipient of the 1997 Idaho Teacher of the Year Award.[11] He was also awarded "Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities," by the Idaho Humanities Council in 2011.[12]
